Inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase 1 pseudogene 4 (IMPDH1P4) is a pseudogene related to the IMPDH1 gene. Unlike the functional IMPDH1 gene, which encodes a key enzyme in purine biosynthesis, IMPDH1P4 does not encode a functional protein and does not participate in any known cellular or disease processes. It is classified as a non-coding sequence in the human genome, and there is no evidence that it is a druggable or therapeutically relevant target[7]. Pseudogenes like IMPDH1P4 are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but typically non-functional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements. Searches for disease association, biological function, or targeting drugs yield no results for pseudogene members such as IMPDH1P4, unlike the true protein-coding gene IMPDH1, which is therapeutically relevant[1][3][6]. Thus, IMPDH1P4 is not considered a canonical drug target, has no known function as a receptor/enzyme/transporter, and should not be selected as a therapeutic target in biomedical research[7].
