Inosine Monophosphate Dehydrogenase Type I (IMPDH1) is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of inosine 5'-monophosphate (IMP) to xanthosine 5'-monophosphate (XMP), the first committed step in de novo guanine nucleotide synthesis. It exists as a homotetramer and plays a crucial role in DNA and RNA synthesis, signal transduction, energy transfer, and cell growth regulation.
