Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor-interacting protein-like 2 (ITPRIPL2) is a predicted protein-coding gene localized in the membrane with little characterized direct function. ITPRIPL2 is subject to post-transcriptional regulation by microRNAs, and its transcript levels are inversely correlated with several microRNAs implicated in breast cancer prognosis. It is a member of the DANGER protein family, with disease associations that include breast cancer (as a prognostic marker) and Diamond-Blackfan anemia 4, as listed in some gene databases. The full range of its molecular functions and physiological roles remains to be elucidated, although it is flagged for further study as a possible participant in oncogenic pathways. Fusion events involving ITPRIPL2 are observed in multiple cancer types, hinting at possible relevance in genomic instability and tumorigenesis.
