The insulin B chain (9-23) epitope-specific T cell receptor (TCR) is a TCR that specifically recognizes the 9-23 amino acid sequence of the insulin B chain. This epitope is a dominant autoantigen in type 1 diabetes, particularly in the non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse model and in humans. T cells bearing these receptors play a central role in initiating and propagating autoimmune responses against pancreatic beta cells, leading to their destruction and subsequent development of type 1 diabetes.
