Insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 2 (IGF2BP2, also known as IMP2) is a member of the IGF2 mRNA-binding protein family that contains four KH (K-homology) and two RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains[1][3][7]. IGF2BP2 binds to the 5'-UTR of IGF2 and other transcripts, regulating their localization, stability, and translation, which influences diverse biological processes—especially during embryogenesis, metabolism, and tumorigenesis[2][4][5]. Dysregulation of IGF2BP2 has been implicated as a genetic risk factor for type 2 diabetes and as a facilitator of cancer cell proliferation and metastasis. Recent studies suggest its potential as a therapeutic and biomarker target, but no direct-acting drugs are currently available.
