The insulin-like growth factor 2 receptor (IGF2R), also known as the cation-independent mannose-6-phosphate receptor (CI-MPR), is a multifunctional transmembrane glycoprotein. It binds both IGF-II and mannose-6-phosphate-tagged proteins. Its functions include clearing IGF-II from the cell surface to attenuate its signaling and transporting lysosomal acid hydrolase precursors. It primarily acts as a tumor suppressor by sequestering excess IGF-II.
