Target intelligence / Profile preview
Insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) is a protein hormone structurally similar to insulin and is a key member of the IGF system. It plays a critical role in regulating growth, development, metabolism, and cell survival. IGF-II acts primarily through the IGF-1R and IR-A receptors. Dysregulation of IGF2 and its signaling pathways are implicated in developmental disorders, cancers, and metabolic diseases. The mannose 6-phosphate receptor acts as a scavenger/antagonist for IGF-II.
