Target intelligence / Profile preview
Insulin secretion refers to the process by which pancreatic β-cells, located in the islets of Langerhans, synthesize and release insulin—a peptide hormone essential for glucose homeostasis. It is a complex process involving glucose sensing, metabolic coupling, electrical activity, calcium influx, and exocytosis of insulin-containing granules. Dysfunction of this process is central to the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus.
Modulation of insulin secretion via KATP channel inhibition or cAMP/Ca2+ signaling enhancement.
