Target intelligence / Profile preview

Integrin alpha-1 (CD49a)

Target
CD49a
Molecular classification
Integrin, Cell adhesion molecule, Receptor
01

Overview

CD49a, also known as Integrin alpha-1, is a cell surface receptor that forms a heterodimer with the beta 1 integrin subunit. This α1β1 integrin complex mediates cell adhesion to extracellular matrix proteins like collagen and laminin. It is expressed on various cell types, including immune cells and structural cells, and plays a role in cell migration, tissue repair, and immune responses. CD49a is involved in immune surveillance within tissues by resident memory lymphocytes. It is considered a therapeutic target for inflammation, infection and cancer.
