Overview

Integrin alpha-3 is a transmembrane receptor protein encoded by the ITGA3 gene, functioning as the alpha subunit of the α3β1 integrin heterodimer. This receptor binds to extracellular matrix proteins, including laminin, fibronectin, and collagen, and mediates adhesion, migration, and signal transduction in epithelial, neural, and other cell types. Integrin alpha-3 plays critical roles in embryonic development, especially neural migration and corticogenesis, and is implicated in processes such as cell invasion (cancer metastasis), tissue integrity, and immune cell function. Dysregulation or mutation of ITGA3 is associated with diseases such as cancer, nephrotic syndrome, and autoimmune inflammation

Mechanism of action
