Overview
Integrin alpha 4 beta 1, also known as very late antigen-4 (VLA-4), is a heterodimeric transmembrane receptor composed of two subunits: alpha 4 (CD49d) and beta 1 (CD29). It belongs to the integrin family of cell adhesion receptors, which mediate cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix interactions. It plays a central role in leukocyte trafficking and is implicated in several inflammatory diseases and cancer metastasis.
