Integrin alpha-4 beta-7 heterodimer (α4β7)

Target
α4β7
Molecular classification
Integrin, Cell Surface Receptor
01

Overview

Integrin α4β7 is a heterodimeric cell surface receptor that plays a critical role in immune cell trafficking, particularly in directing lymphocytes to gut-associated lymphoid tissues. It is composed of alpha-4 (CD49d; gene: ITGA4) and beta-7 (gene: ITGB7) subunits. α4β7 mediates adhesion and migration of lymphocytes by binding to specific ligands like MAdCAM-1, VCAM-1 and fibronectin, promoting homing of T and B lymphocytes to intestinal mucosa.
