Overview

Integrin alpha FG-GAP repeat containing 1 (ITFG1), also known as T-cell immunomodulatory protein (TIP), is a human protein coded by the ITFG1 gene. It contains FG-GAP repeats—domains seen in proteins involved with molecular/cellular interactions—and is thought to modulate T-cell immune function. ITFG1 has a reported protective effect in graft-versus-host disease models and is associated with diseases such as graft-versus-host disease and podoconiosis. There is evidence implicating ITFG1 in the collective invasion and progression of breast cancer cells through its interaction with RUVBL1. While its exact molecular mechanism and druggability are not fully defined, it is considered a potential immunomodulatory target based on experimental evidence[1][3][6].
