Integrin alpha-IIb (αIIb)

Target
αIIb
Molecular classification
Integrin, Receptor
01

Overview

Integrin alpha-IIb (αIIb or CD41) is a protein that combines with the beta-3 subunit to form the αIIbβ3 complex, a major receptor on platelets. It plays a critical role in hemostasis and thrombosis by mediating platelet aggregation through interactions with ligands like fibrinogen. Mutations in ITGA2B cause Glanzmann thrombasthenia. Antagonists targeting αIIbβ3 are used as antithrombotic agents.
