Integrin alpha-V (ITGAV)

Target
ITGAV
Molecular classification
Receptor, Cell surface receptor protein, Integrin
01

Overview

Integrin alpha-V (ITGAV) is a cell surface receptor protein that plays a central role in cell adhesion, migration, and signal transduction by interacting with various extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins and other ligands. It forms heterodimeric complexes with different beta subunits, leading to distinct integrin receptors with varying ligand specificities. Alpha V integrins mediate cell adhesion to ECM components, influence cell survival/migration/proliferation, activate TGF-beta, and act as viral entry receptors. Altered expression is implicated in diseases like visceral myopathy, West Nile Virus susceptibility, and cancer.
