Integrin alpha-V beta-5 (αVβ5)

Target
αVβ5
Molecular classification
Integrin, Receptor, Transmembrane protein
01

Overview

Integrin alpha-V beta-5 (αVβ5) is a heterodimeric transmembrane receptor composed of alpha V (ITGAV) and beta 5 (ITGB5) subunits. It binds to ligands containing an RGD (Arg-Gly-Asp) motif, notably vitronectin. αVβ5 mediates cell adhesion, migration, and signal transduction and plays roles in retinal pigment epithelium function, cancer, and viral infection. It is located primarily on the plasma membrane.
