Target intelligence / Profile preview
Integrin alpha V beta 8 (αvβ8) is a heterodimeric cell surface receptor composed of the αV (ITGAV) and β8 (ITGB8) subunits. It is a unique integrin that plays a key role in activating latent transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta), influencing processes such as immune regulation, tissue remodeling, fibrosis, tumor progression, angiogenesis, and neurodevelopmental events. Unlike most integrins, αvβ8 remains constitutively active and activates TGF-beta through a protease-dependent mechanism.
