Integrin αvβ5 is a heterodimeric cell surface receptor composed of alpha V (ITGAV) and beta 5 (ITGB5) subunits. It mediates cell adhesion, migration, and signal transduction through interactions with the extracellular matrix (ECM), particularly with ligands containing an RGD motif like vitronectin and fibronectin. αvβ5 plays a key role in processes such as cell attachment, proliferation, and survival, and also serves as a receptor/co-receptor for viral entry, including adenovirus and adeno-associated virus type 2 (AAV2).
