Integrin Beta 6 (IB6)

Target
IB6
Molecular classification
Integrin, Receptor, Transmembrane glycoprotein
01

Overview

Integrin beta 6 (IB6), also known as integrin subunit beta 6 or ITGB6, is a protein that forms a heterodimer exclusively with the alpha v subunit to create the integrin αvβ6 receptor. Integrins are transmembrane glycoproteins that mediate cell adhesion and signal transduction between the extracellular matrix (ECM) and intracellular environment. It acts as a receptor for ECM proteins and plays a critical role in cell adhesion, migration, and signal transduction affecting cell behavior. Overexpression is linked to aggressive disease progression and poor prognosis across several carcinomas and is involved in TGF-beta activation, which can suppress antitumor immune responses.
