Integrin Mac-1 (Mac-1)

Target
Mac-1
Molecular classification
Integrin, Receptor, Cell adhesion molecule
01

Overview

Integrin Mac-1, also known as macrophage-1 antigen, is a multifunctional cell surface receptor with critical roles in immune cell adhesion, migration, and signaling. It is a heterodimeric transmembrane protein composed of CD11b (αM subunit) and CD18 (β2 subunit). Mac-1 mediates leukocyte recruitment to sites of inflammation, phagocytosis of opsonized particles, and modulates inflammatory gene expression. It is expressed on neutrophils, monocytes/macrophages, dendritic cells, and osteoclast progenitors. Dysregulation of Mac-1 has been implicated in autoimmune diseases and chronic inflammatory conditions.
