Integrin Subunit Beta 1 (ITGB1)

Target
ITGB1
Molecular classification
Integrin, Transmembrane protein, Cell surface receptor
01

Overview

Integrin subunit beta 1 (ITGB1 or CD29) is a transmembrane protein that forms part of the integrin family, which are heterodimeric cell surface receptors. ITGB1 can pair with multiple alpha subunits, resulting in different receptor complexes with unique tissue distributions and functions. It plays a central role in cell adhesion, bidirectional signal transduction, and regulation of key cellular processes including proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and motility. Dysregulation or mutation can impact development/tissue integrity or promote disease states such as cancer metastasis.
