Interaction protein for cytohesin exchange factors 1 (IPCEF1) is a cytosolic protein that binds to members of the cytohesin family of ARF guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs), particularly cytohesin 2, through a specific C-terminal region. This interaction regulates the activity and subcellular localization of cytohesin GEFs, thereby modulating the ARF6 small GTPase pathway involved in actin cytoskeleton reorganization and membrane trafficking. IPCEF1 is predicted to localize in the cytoplasm and plasma membrane, and has also been associated with a potential role in oxidative stress response. There is no current evidence to support its function as a direct therapeutic target, nor are any drugs known to interact with this protein[1][3][4].
