Interferon alpha-10 is a secreted cytokine encoded by the IFNA10 gene, a member of the type I interferon family[1][5]. It is produced mainly by macrophages and plasmacytoid dendritic cells in response to viral infection or pathogen-associated signals[1][2]. IFNA10 is among the strongest inducers of antiviral interferon-stimulated genes, exerting potent antiviral, immunomodulatory, and anti-proliferative effects via the JAK/STAT signaling pathway through IFNAR1/IFNAR2[2][6]. It plays key roles in host defense against viral infections, and dysregulated signaling has been implicated in diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, inflammatory disorders, and certain cancers[2]. IFNA10 can be modulated by drugs that block its receptor signaling, and altered levels of IFNA10 or downstream ISGs can serve as biomarkers of pathway activation and therapeutic response[2][1].
