Target intelligence / Profile preview

Interferon-gamma (None)

Target
None
Molecular classification
Cytokine, Type II Interferon
01

Overview

Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) is a dimerized, soluble cytokine and the only member of the type II class of interferons. It is primarily produced by immune cells such as T helper 1 (Th1) cells, cytotoxic T lymphocytes, natural killer (NK) cells, macrophages, and mucosal epithelial cells. IFN-γ plays a central role in both innate and adaptive immunity due to its broad immunoregulatory, antiviral, antibacterial, and antitumor properties.
