Interferon gamma (IFN-γ) secretion induction refers to the biological processes and molecular mechanisms that stimulate cells—primarily immune cells—to produce and release IFN-γ, a critical cytokine in both innate and adaptive immunity. Key inducers include IL-12, IL-18, and antigen receptor activation. The JAK-STAT pathway is central to the signaling cascade. Induced secretion leads to enhanced macrophage activation, increased expression of MHC molecules, promotion of cytotoxic activity, and augmentation of pro-inflammatory cytokine release. Aberrant induction is implicated in autoimmune diseases, chronic inflammatory states, and tumor surveillance failure.
