Interferon-induced helicase C domain-containing protein 1 (IFIH1)

Target
IFIH1
Molecular classification
Pattern Recognition Receptor, Helicase, Intracellular receptor
01

Overview

Interferon-induced helicase C domain-containing protein 1 (IFIH1), also known as MDA5, is a cytoplasmic pattern recognition receptor that detects viral double-stranded RNA (dsRNA). Upon binding dsRNA, MDA5 activates the innate immune system, triggering the production of type I interferons and other inflammatory cytokines. Dysregulation of IFIH1 has been linked to several autoimmune diseases.
