Interferon induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 1 pseudogene 1 (IFIT1P1) is a human pseudogene homologous to the IFIT1 gene, located on chromosome 13. The IFIT1 gene itself encodes an interferon-induced protein involved in antiviral immune responses by binding viral RNA and inhibiting its translation, but IFIT1P1 is not thought to encode a functional protein. Like other pseudogenes, IFIT1P1 may be transcribed into RNA and could theoretically exert regulatory effects on its parent gene or related pathways but there is no specific evidence or characterized function for IFIT1P1 documented in current literature or major genetic databases. It is not considered a classic druggable target, nor is it used clinically as a biomarker, and has not been implicated in disease causation or therapy
