IFITM8P, or interferon induced transmembrane protein 8 pseudogene, is a genomic element whose sequence resembles those of the IFITM family (IFITM1, IFITM2, IFITM3, IFITM5, IFITM10) of interferon-induced transmembrane proteins but is not translated into a functional protein in humans[2][4]. The IFITM protein family is involved in cellular antiviral responses, immune regulation, cell proliferation, and some tumor biology, but IFITM8P is considered a pseudogene and not functionally characterized or implicated as a therapeutic target in any disease or biological pathway[2][4]. There are no aliases or alternative functional names in the literature, and no evidence for a classified molecular function, drug interaction, or relevance in clinical or research diagnostics.
