The Interferon Lambda Receptor (IFN-λR) is a heterodimeric cell surface receptor complex that mediates the biological effects of type III interferons (IFN-λs). It consists of the IFNLR1 subunit (unique to IFN-λs) and the IL10RB subunit (shared with other cytokine receptors). Activation of the receptor leads to antiviral defense, immune modulation, and regulation of inflammation, particularly at mucosal surfaces.
Activation of JAK1 and TYK2 kinases, leading to phosphorylation and activation of STAT proteins (STAT1/STAT2) and induction of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs).
