Target intelligence / Profile preview
Interferon omega 1 pseudogene 15 (IFNWP15) is one of multiple pseudogenes related to the interferon omega family found in the human genome.[2][3] Pseudogenes are gene sequences that resemble known genes but do not encode functional protein products due to mutations or deletions. IFNWP15 is similar to the interferon omega 1 gene (IFNW1), which is a member of the Type I interferon family of cytokines that are crucial in regulating antiviral immunity, inflammation, and anti-tumor responses.[1][2][3][5] However, IFNWP15 itself does not appear to have a coding, structural, or functional role in human biology.[2][3] IFNWP15 is a nonfunctional gene (pseudogene) and not a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter. It has no known aliases, molecular function, drug interactions, or disease roles. Its inclusion as a target is likely a misinterpretation; IFNW1 (Interferon omega-1) is the functional cytokine in the family, not IFNWP15[1][2][3].
