Consequently, they are high-priority therapeutic targets; drugs like dupilumab (targeting the IL-4/IL-13 receptor) and canakinumab (targeting IL-1β) have been developed to modulate these pathways (Simpson et al., 2016). Monitoring biomarkers like IgE or C-reactive protein is often employed to track the efficacy of these cytokine-targeted interventions. These therapies aim to restore immune homeostasis by selectively inhibiting the overactive signaling pathways associated with specific disease phenotypes.
