Target intelligence / Profile preview
Interleukin 1 receptor antagonist (IL‑1Ra) is a natural inhibitor of interleukin-1 (IL-1) signaling. It binds to IL-1 receptors without inducing signal transduction, thereby blocking the pro-inflammatory effects of IL-1α and IL-1β. Deficiency leads to autoinflammatory diseases. Recombinant human IL-1Ra is used therapeutically as an anti-inflammatory agent.
Binds to cell surface interleukin-1 receptors with high affinity, preventing IL-1α/β binding and subsequent signal transduction.
