Overview
The Interleukin-10 receptor (IL-10R) is a type II cytokine receptor that mediates the biological effects of interleukin-10 (IL-10), a key anti-inflammatory cytokine. IL-10R plays a crucial role in regulating immune responses, particularly by limiting and terminating inflammatory processes. It is a tetrameric complex composed of two α subunits (IL-10R1/IL10RA) and two β subunits (IL-10R2/IL10RB). Upon ligand binding, JAK1 and TYK2 kinases activate STAT3, driving transcription of anti-inflammatory genes. Defects can result in severe early-onset IBD. It is explored as a therapeutic target for autoimmune diseases, tissue damage repair, and cancer immunotherapy modulation.
