Interleukin 10 Receptor Alpha Subunit

Molecular classification
Type II cytokine receptor family, Receptor
01

Overview

The interleukin 10 receptor alpha subunit (IL10RA) is the ligand-binding component of the interleukin-10 (IL-10) receptor complex. It mediates immunosuppressive signals from IL-10 by inhibiting the synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines, promoting survival of myeloid progenitor cells, and downregulating MHCII and costimulatory molecules on dendritic cells/macrophages. Defects or mutations in IL10RA are linked to early-onset inflammatory bowel disease. It also plays a role in tumor immunity.
