Overview
Interleukin-10-secreting regulatory T cells (Tr1 cells) are a subset of regulatory T cells that suppress immune responses primarily through the secretion of interleukin-10 (IL-10). They are induced in the periphery under tolerogenic conditions and play a crucial role in maintaining immune tolerance, preventing autoimmunity, and modulating inflammation. Unlike naturally occurring CD4+CD25+FOXP3+ Tregs, Tr1 cells do not constitutively express FOXP3.
