Overview
The Interleukin-12 (IL-12) signaling pathway is a critical immune signaling cascade primarily involved in the regulation of innate and adaptive immunity. IL-12 is a heterodimeric pro-inflammatory cytokine, often referred to as IL-12p70, composed of two subunits: p35 (encoded by IL12A) and p40 (encoded by IL12B). The active form, p70, is produced mainly by dendritic cells, macrophages, monocytes, neutrophils, and B cells in response to pathogens or immune stimuli. This pathway promotes Th1 differentiation, IFN-gamma induction, cytotoxicity enhancement, T/NK cell proliferation, and antiangiogenesis.
