Interleukin-13 Receptor Subunit Alpha 2 (IL13Rα2)

Target
IL13Rα2
Molecular classification
Receptor, Cytokine Receptor, Single-Pass Type I Membrane Protein
01

Overview

Interleukin-13 receptor subunit alpha 2 (IL13Rα2) is a membrane-bound protein that binds interleukin-13 (IL-13) with high affinity. Traditionally considered a decoy receptor that inhibits interleukin‑4 and interleukin‑13 mediated JAK/STAT signaling pathways. Recent evidence shows that in cancer cells, it can mediate pro-tumorigenic signaling, promoting invasion and metastasis. It is overexpressed in various cancers, making it an attractive target for anti-cancer therapies.
