Target intelligence / Profile preview
Interleukin 15 receptor alpha (IL-15Rα) is a high-affinity binding subunit of the interleukin-15 (IL-15) receptor complex. It plays a crucial role in mediating the biological activities of IL-15, particularly in immune cell development and function. IL-15Rα primarily functions by presenting bound IL-15 "in trans" to neighboring immune cells expressing only βγ chains. Dysregulation has been implicated in cancer progression and immunity modulation.
Soluble IL-15Rα fragments can act as antagonists by inhibiting IL-15 signaling.
