The Interleukin-15 receptor alpha subunit (IL-15Rα) is a component of the interleukin-15 (IL-15) receptor complex and plays a critical role in immune system regulation. The functional IL-15 receptor complex consists of IL-15Rα, CD122 (IL2/IL15Rβ), and CD132 (common γ chain). IL-15Rα is unique to the IL-15 receptor and responsible for high-affinity binding to IL-15. It plays key roles in proliferation/survival/differentiation of memory CD8+ T-cells, development/functionality of natural killer (NK) cells, and modulation of innate/adaptive immunity. Due to its central role in immunoregulation, it is a therapeutic target for oncology/infectious disease/autoimmunity.
