Interleukin 17 (IL-17), also known as IL-17A, is a pro-inflammatory cytokine and a member of the IL-17 family. It is primarily produced by Th17 cells and plays a central role in host defense against extracellular pathogens, inflammation, and bone metabolism. Dysregulated IL-17 signaling contributes to several chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, making it a therapeutic target.
