Interleukin 17 Receptor (IL-17R)

Target
IL-17R
Molecular classification
Cytokine Receptor, Type I transmembrane protein
01

Overview

The Interleukin-17 receptor (IL-17R) is a cytokine receptor that binds members of the IL-17 family, primarily mediating proinflammatory responses. It plays a crucial role in host defense against extracellular pathogens and is implicated in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Functional receptors are typically heteromeric complexes formed by combinations of IL‑17RA, IL‑17RB, IL‑17RC, IL‑17RD, and IL‑17RE subunits. Upon ligand binding, these receptors activate several intracellular signaling cascades including TRAF6, MAP kinases, and NF–κB, leading to induction of chemokines, G-CSF, antimicrobial peptides, and pro-inflammatory cytokines.
