Interleukin-17 receptor B (IL‑17RB) is a cytokine receptor that specifically binds to interleukins IL‑17B and IL‑17E (also known as IL‑25). It does not bind to other family members such as IL‑17A or IL‑17C. Upon ligand binding—particularly by IL‑25—IL‑17RB mediates activation of NF-kappaB and induces production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin 8 (IL8), contributing to inflammatory responses. The expression of this receptor is upregulated during certain immune conditions such as intestinal inflammation, suggesting an immunoregulatory role. Structurally, its intracellular domain contains a SEFIR motif critical for downstream signaling interactions. Diseases associated with dysregulation or altered expression include various inflammatory and infectious diseases.
