Molecular classification
Receptor, Cytokine receptor family (specifically, interleukin 17 receptor family), Transmembrane protein
01

Overview

Interleukin‑17 receptor E is a member of the interleukin‑17 receptor family, which consists of several structurally related transmembrane proteins involved in immune signaling. IL‑17RE acts as a specific functional receptor for the cytokine interleukin‑17C. Upon ligand binding, it signals through intracellular pathways such as NF-kappa-B and MAPK, requiring the adaptor protein TRAF3IP2/ACT1 for downstream signaling[4]. This pathway plays an important role in mucosal barrier immunity and host defense against pathogens at epithelial surfaces[2]. IL‑17RE is highly expressed in Th17 cells and contributes to immune responses by mediating pro-inflammatory signals that help maintain tissue integrity during infection or inflammation[1][4].
