Target intelligence / Profile preview
Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is a proinflammatory cytokine and a key member of the IL-17 cytokine family. It plays crucial roles in both innate and adaptive immunity, particularly in host defense against bacterial and fungal infections as well as in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. It induces chemokines that recruit neutrophils and monocytes to sites of inflammation, stimulates production of antimicrobial peptides by epithelial tissues, and promotes secretion of proinflammatory mediators.
Neutralization of IL-17A, preventing its binding to the IL-17 receptor and subsequent downstream signaling.
