Target intelligence / Profile preview
Interleukin-2 (IL-2) production is a critical biological process essential for the regulation of immune responses. It is primarily stimulated in activated CD4+ T lymphocytes and dendritic cells following antigen recognition and co-stimulatory signals. IL-2 promotes the proliferation, differentiation, and survival of T cells, and modulates the activity of other immune cells. Dysregulation of IL-2 production is implicated in various diseases, including autoimmunity, immunodeficiency, and cancer. Therapeutic interventions can target the pathways involved in IL-2 production to modulate immune responses.
Not applicable as this is a biological process. However, drugs can indirectly impact IL-2 production by modulating upstream signaling pathways (e.g., calcineurin inhibitors) or by directly affecting the IL-2 receptor signaling cascade.
