Target intelligence / Profile preview
The interleukin-2 receptor gamma chain (IL-2Rγ), also known as the common gamma chain (γc) or CD132, is a critical component of several cytokine receptors, including those for IL-2, IL-4, IL-7, IL-9, IL-15, and IL-21. It is essential for lymphocyte development and signaling through the JAK/STAT pathway. Mutations in the *IL2RG* gene cause X-linked Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (X-SCID).
Forms a functional receptor complex upon ligand binding, triggers JAK/STAT signaling pathway leading to gene expression regulation.
