Target intelligence / Profile preview
Interleukin-20 (IL-20) signaling is a cytokine-mediated pathway involved in immune regulation, particularly at epithelial surfaces. IL-20, along with IL-19 and IL-24, belongs to the IL-10 family and plays a role in both protective immunity and inflammatory diseases. IL-20 signals through heterodimeric receptor complexes (Type I: IL-20R1 + IL-20R2, Type II: IL-22R1 + IL-20R2) activating the JAK/STAT pathway, which leads to the modulation of gene expression and various biological effects like epithelial defense, tissue repair, and vascular remodeling. Dysregulation of this pathway has been implicated in several human pathologies, making it a potential therapeutic target.
Blocking IL-20 ligand-receptor interaction to inhibit downstream signaling pathways like JAK/STAT.
