IL-22RA1 is a subunit of the IL-22 receptor complex, a member of the class II cytokine receptor family. It mediates cellular responses to IL-22, IL-20 and IL-24, primarily in epithelial cells. Activation of IL-22RA1 triggers downstream signaling pathways, including JAK/STAT, MAPK, and Akt, leading to upregulation of antimicrobial peptides, induction of acute phase proteins, and promotion of tissue repair. It is expressed in epithelial-rich tissues such as skin, gut, and lung, and plays a key role in innate immunity and tissue homeostasis. It has been studied as a biomarker for inflammatory conditions.
