Interleukin 28 Receptor Subunit Alpha (IL28RA)

Target
IL28RA
Molecular classification
Type I transmembrane glycoprotein, Class II cytokine receptor

Overview

Interleukin 28 receptor subunit alpha (IL28RA), also known as IFN lambda receptor 1 (IFNLR1), is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the class II cytokine receptor family. It forms part of the functional interleukin-28 receptor complex by pairing with the interleukin-10 receptor beta subunit (IL10RB). This heterodimeric complex serves as the cell surface receptor for type III interferons: IL-28A, IL-28B, and IL-29. Upon ligand binding, it activates the JAK/STAT signaling pathway, leading to upregulation of MHC class I antigen expression, induction of antiviral genes, anti-proliferative effects, and enhanced mucosal immune responses against viruses. Dysregulation or altered expression/function has been implicated in viral infections, autoimmune diseases, and cancer.
