Interleukin-3 (IL-3) is a pleiotropic cytokine that regulates the production, proliferation, differentiation, and survival of various blood cell types. It is primarily secreted by activated T lymphocytes, mast cells, and osteoblastic cells. IL-3 binds to its heterodimeric receptor (CD123/CD131) and activates intracellular signaling pathways such as Ras-Raf-MEK/ERK and JAK/STAT, leading to gene expression changes that promote cell survival and drive proliferation/differentiation in target lineages.
Stimulates proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells through receptor binding and activation of intracellular signaling pathways (Ras-Raf-MEK/ERK, JAK/STAT).
